So you’ve been appointed as ‘group leader’ heh? An honour for some, an absolute headache for others. So if you are now wondering what on earth you have let yourself in for & are picturing the mild forms of torture you may need to subject your fellow group members to in order for them to commit & cough up and pay, then follow Mojito’s hints ‘n’ tips to stress-free, smooth-running plans!
Speak to the hen or stag
Find out what they would really like to do & possibly more importantly what they really DON’T want to do. Bear in mind other hen or stag weekends that you may all be going on & avoid repeating the activities, venues & the destination so you know your arrangements will stand out & be remembered.
Set a date
Speak to the key members of your group & closest friends & fix a date that is convenient for you. Do not try & sort a date out that is good for all of your group…..impossible!
What shall we do?
As the group leader, you obviously want your weekend to be memorable for all the right reasons. Arrange for the group to do an activity during the day (speak to Mojito for ideas & suggestions) which will also avoid ‘peaking’ too early & having no memory of the weekend at all!!! Whilst you probably have loads of great ideas, don’t be afraid to ask Mojito for some other suggestions that may not have crossed your mind. We work with so many varied suppliers & venues, you’ll be surprised.
Set a budget
In today’s climate, it is important to be sensitive to those that may not have as many spondoolies as others. Mojito have some great package deals & offers that won’t break the bank & will mean no-one has an excuse not to be there!
Decide on your location
This can often be determined by the type of activities or bars & clubs you want to enjoy during your weekend. Mojito work within Liverpool, Manchester, Chester & several destinations in North Wales. See what we have to offer & please give us a bell to discuss your plans.
Get a quote
You can speak to someone direct at Mojito or you can build your ideal package on-line. Either way, you are guaranteed to get a fabulously competitive quote from us (of course other hen & stag companies are available!!) The quote you receive from us will stand for 14 days giving you plenty of time to round up the troops & collect in the all important wonga!
Send invitations
Draw up a list of people you would like to invite. Be sure to get email addresses, contact/mobile numbers & their full names which will all make your life a lot easier further down the line. Send out your invites! People will want to know the following so it’s probably a good idea to have this covered in your first invite:
- Dates
- Location
- Travel arrangements
- Where you are staying
- What activities you will be doing during the day
- What restaurants, bars & clubs you will be going to
- Will you be wearing fancy dress?
- Cost
Collect deposits & book!
Mojito require a £10 per person deposit (please see our terms & conditions for more details), so give each group member strict instructions of how to pay their £10 to you & more importantly when to pay you by. This will help you get commitment from your group & will help you massively to establish your group size from the beginning. Without this commitment, you can pretty much guarantee you will get last minute drop outs & cancellations which can ruin your weekend & also result in your package price increasing & some activities being cancelled due to reduced numbers.
Book early
The earlier you book your event, the better your quote will be…..shimples…eeeek! Not only will your quote be cheaper but you will also have a greater choice of accommodation, venues, activity centres & activity times rather than having to plumb for what is left! Booking early also gives the rest of the group plenty of time to save up for the remainder of the payment.
Spondoolies
Some people open up a separate bank account & receive transfers, some people insist on the group sending individual cheques/cash, some groups all put in £30 per month to cover the costs & set up a kitty…..work out what you think will be easiest for you in terms of collecting all the money in on time & with the least hassle! Once your £10 per person deposit has been received by Mojito, no payment is required until 4 weeks prior to your arrival date.
Don’t take chances
There are lots of clubs & bars that quite simply don’t like ‘large groups’ so don’t take chances & ensure your night runs without a hitch. Mojito’s bar/club hops cost very little, if anything ensuring you have some great venues awaiting your arrival with arms open & eliminating any ‘hanging around on street corners wondering where to go’ moments.
There are lots of companies just like Mojito (but with less cool names) that offer similar packages & services. Be sure to shop around & make sure that the company you decide to go with has the relevant insurances to protect your money. Being a member of a particular agency does not necessarily mean your money is protected or that you will see it again if the company goes bust! Ask the question!
